Scouts, Scouts and More Scouts

The past few weeks Max has been working really hard on Scouts. He has been attending his second Pow-Wow. He has been working on 3 merit badges... Family Life, Radio, and Citizenship in the Community. Citizenship in the Community required 8 hrs. of community service for a charitable organization. Max spent time working at Deseret Industries, and also collecting books for children to read. The books were then donated to medical office where they would help little kids.

Max sorting books with Thomas and Jayden.

Still sorting and organizing.

Bringing the books in that were collected for the children.

Another part of the requirements for this merit badge was to meet with a government official and ask them questions about issues in the city, and what was being done to resolve issues.
Max got to meet with Mayor Parker for 1 hr. He said it was a great experience and that the Mayor was very cool!!

Max's question of course was about yard care. He wanted to know why the pressure for the irrigated water was so low, and what was being done to fix the problem. The Mayor drew a diagram for Max and explained the pressurized irrigation system, and then told him that they are working on putting another water tank up higher to resolve the problem. Max was excited!!!

CONGRATULATIONS MAX!!! 6 Merit Badges now earned....

Hyundai vs. Deer

Oh "Deer"!!

Our poor little Hyundai, or commonly referred to as the "clown car". This has been the most reliable car we have ever had. It is going on 10 yrs. old and very reliable. But in November it had a little accident; the very first one! A deer decided to jump in its path. Unfortunately for the deer, the "clown car" won. Lucky for Tom, the deer hit him. I'm sure it could have been a lot worse, but Tom was o.k. We are counting our blessings! Had he hit the deer head on...who knows what the out come would have been; especially since the "clown car" is so small.

As you can see, it was a sad day for the deer. He left part of his skin in the passengers door. Although the deer caused over 3k in damages to our "little clown car", the repairs have been made and reliability has set back in.

When the kids found out that the deer died, they were very upset at Tom. We had to explain to them that it was not Dad's fault, and that he did not try to kill the deer. It took them a while to get over the fact that the deer had died. Although it is very sad that the poor little deer died, we are very thankful that Tom is o.k.

Milestones

Our latest family milestones...

Leave it to Max...
"Hey Mom, my tooth is loose. I think I'll go chew on a tootsie roll to pull it out...it works every time!" Apparently he did this in the 3rd grade during class time and his teacher was laughing so hard. Thank goodness he only has one more baby tooth left in his mouth. Pretty gross, but extremely effective!

Megan is doing so well in preschool. She is now READING!!! Way to go Megan!!! We are so proud of you. She really enjoys reading and Buzzy especially loves to hear about Ham and Jam.

Max is now in 11 yr. old scouts...not cub scouts. He is so excited and has set his goal to earn his Eagle by age 13 1/2 yrs. old (the earliest he can receive it). He is definitely on his way...he has earned the official rank of scout and will soon earn 3 merit badges; Citizenship of the World, Crime Prevention, and Computers. Way to go!! We love the scouting program.

Mya is a big girl now...No MORE DIAPERS!!! Yea!! She is now potty-trained. She was so proud of her potty chart. And she loves her Elmo panties.

Dad can now fit not only himself in his Levis, but both of the girls. Time for some new pants Daddy!! Way to go on losing 60 lbs!!! We are so proud of you!

Happy Halloween

Our "Spookiest" Halloween

This Halloween was by far our "spookiest". No, the kids did not dress up spooky. Actually, they were very "cute". Max was a Sheriff, Megan was Sleeping Beauty (with long straight hair), and Mya was Snow White. So...not so spooky at all right??? We had a great day, preschool party, school parade, school party and fun pizza mummies. However, the day became spookier by the minute.

At 4:00 p.m. Tom and Jerry began transforming into Thomalina and Jeraldine. So the story goes...Jerry convinced Tom to dress up this year for Halloween. Of course the deal was that Jerry had to dress up as well. In the 20 yrs that I have known Tom he has NEVER dressed up for Halloween! You might as well go ALL out if your going to do it; according to Tom!

So the transformation begins. The girls thought it was so funny that Dad and Jerry were dressing up as girls. Megan has waited two weeks to see this transformation take place. When we went to purchase his attire, Megan just kept telling people "My Dads going to be a girl". Tom kept telling her that it wasn't necessary to tell EVERYONE! She did a great job helping Dad pick out his outfit. Megan was so impressed with Thomalina's upper body. Both Tom and Jerry went all out; including full nylons, high heels, long fingernails, foundation, blush, mascara, eyeliner, lipstick, eye shadow, and jewelry.

We absolutely loved Jeraldine's beautiful full figure dress. It matches her hair so nicely. Who does your hair? It is absolutely gorgeous!

So finally, everyone was ready. My oh my does it take a long time to put on your makeup girls! Off we went for some trick-or-treating. Good luck walking the neighborhood in those high heels.

The girls were so excited to see their good friend Matt! Way to go Tom and Jerry. You are great sports. You keep us all in laughs. In fact, I don't think I have laughed this hard for years. It was so funny to see all the neighbors reactions. We all had lots of fun. Thanks for making this our spookiest Halloween yet!!! I guess that's what you get when Tom and Jerry live next to each other. Ha ha ha!
